Mute

Frank Tovey (8/9/56 – 3/4/2002)

12 years ago today the world lost the genius that is Frank Tovey. I logged into Facebook this morning and was thrilled to see a photo album of Frank that Mute Records had posted up on their page. Add to that a playlist on Spotify as well! We all know the story of Depeche, Fad Gadget, Mute etc.. so I won't bore you with that, but I highly recommend checking out the photo album if you're a fan. I shared a few here, but to see the full album head over to the album on the Mute FB page. While you're there, be sure to give the page a Like too! Mute's description and playlist link: Frank Tovey....

'A Strange Hour In Budapest' – cinema screenings events

Cinema screening events for "A Strange Hour In Budapest" are being held in cities like Toronto, Copenhagen, Oslo,  and more. Alan will not be attending all of them, but most, if not all, have after party events planned. Some interesting questions asked an answered by Alan already. Long time forum member Jan was posting that when Al  was asked if there were other songs he considered remixing, titles like "Black Celebration", "I Am You", and "Barrel Of A Gun" came to mind as well as finding out that his remix for "I Want You Now" was approximately 60% finished. Apparently he managed to find some...

New interview with Daniel Miller

A new interview with Daniel Miller for Music Week is up and you should definitely give it a read. The interview is more about Daniel and Mute, but Depeche are discussed as well. It's a nice perspective on how he deals with things related to Mute in this day and age. An insight into the past as well as how things are into today's climate with regards to streaming services etc. He does it all from the perspective of an independent label and I love that. He says, "Mute isn’t an ‘indie’ label – we’re an independent label and they are two different things in my mind." I love that! When asked...

VCMG – Ssss – Trailer 4

The 4th trailer to promote "Ssss" from VCMG is up and continues to be as bizarre as it is immensely fascinating as the previous trailers. It was posted up today on the Mute YouTube channel. If you're on there, be sure to follow them for all things Mute Records. Lots of good stuff, we highly recommend! I hope these videos will have some influence on the forthcoming Depeche Mode imagery. I love the rough edge to the simplicity of them.  "Is Simplicity Best or Simply the Easiest?"..... perhaps, for me anyway. I don't know, just something cool about it... but that's all a matter of taste and what...
