Depeche Mode web-guy Daniel Barassi posted a teaser video on YouTube, suggesting (should we say "confirming"?) that Martin Gore will be appearing at one of the Recoil events scheduled for the US this fall. Specifically, the Santa Ana show on October 24. The YouTube video shows Alan, then Martin with their respective initials; then the coordinates of Santa Ana followed by the date. Yes, people, you read that absolutely right. Martin is working on a new project with former band-mate, Vince Clarke. So far very little is known, apart from one a single title: "Zaat". The former Depeche Mode/Yazoo-man revealed the collaboration via Twitter, saying simply: "Am working on the track 'Zaat'. Collaborating with Martin (Gore) (from Basildon)".

It isn't often a band manages to capture my attention right off the bat, but Compact Space certainly managed it. Before learning more about the band, the debut single, "Push Push", struck a chord - it felt both very familiar and entirely fresh. A feeling that was quickly explained when I learned who was behind this charming record.

Who's Compact Space, and why should you care? Well, Compact Space is a band featuring Christian Eigner, Daryl Bamonte and Florian Kraemmer. The first two should sound familiar to any and all Mode fans. The trio started writing together in 2008. The first single 'Push Push' is available on iTunes and Amazon right now (link below), and a remix by Andrew Phillpott is still to come, and the album is due to be released at the end of the year. Both album and single were produced by Christian and mixed by Paul PDub Walton.
