Depeche Mode score 9th Billboard Dance No. 1

Depeche Mode's "Perfect" hit the no. 1 spot on the Billboard Dance Chart, making it their 9th time on the top of that chart. Only Pet Shop Boys has had more Dance Chart no. 1s - they've had ten, the most recent mere weeks ago. "Perfect", who's mix package was produced and promoted by ProMotion-US, featured remixes by Craig J, Roger Sanchez, Ralphi and Jody dB. Some of the mixes will see their commercial premiere when "Fragile Tension/Hole To Feed" is released across Europe next week. Mode Tour Confirmed… No Dates Yet!

Creative Artists Agency managing partner Rob Light confirmed the news during a touring panel today (July 28) at the 83rd annual IAAM conference and trade show in Anaheim, California, according to Billboard Magazine's website.The article centers around AC/DC but mentions Depeche Mode amongst a list of "other acts touring in the near future".

Mode officially in the studio now! (UPDATED)

Or rather, it is now official that Ben Hillier is in the studio, and that Depeche Mode are with him. Go figure! Ben's UK based management updated the producer's bio with this tiny little line: [Ben's] now back in the production chair for Depeche Mode following their last collaboration on "Playing The Angel" album". Ben Hillier returns to helm another Mode album

According to sources close to the band, Ben Hillier will do a repeat stint as producer for Depeche Mode on their forthcoming album. Hillier, who's CV includes names like U2, Smashing Pumpkins and more recently The Rascals and The Horrors, also helmed Mode's most recent full length studio output, "Playing The Angel". Other names already known to be involved with the record include Sie Medway Smith, who worked as a programmer on Martin's demos, and Christian Eigner, Andrew Phillpott and Kurt Uenala who worked with Dave on his compositions. Depeche Mode to start work on new album!

Depeche Mode have finally set a date for when work starts on their forthcoming album, which will hopefully see the light of day in a years time. The band had a meeting just before Easter to make a rough time line and listen to demos. The meeting took place in Santa Barbara, and was also attended by the yet-to-be-announced producer of the album. Sessions are expected to kick off in early May. More news as we get it!
