Alan Wilder remixes Depeche Mode *updated*

Alan Wilder joins Vince Clarke on the list of people who’ve done remixes for the forthcoming Depeche Mode remix album, tentatively set for release early next year. The two Mode legends’ involvement signal a very interesting project is in the works. Also rumoured to be included in the project are YeasayerThe Yeah Yeah Yeahs!, Brandon Flowers and Arcade Fire. More details should be trickling through in the coming weeks.

Cheers for the tip(s) goes to Matt and a few others… you know who you are!

YEEEEEEESSSSSS !!!!!!! At last ! Hope Alan puts his hands on something he hasn't touched yet - would be fun to see what he does with any of the best songs on Ultra, Exciter, PTA or SOTU. Or maybe the Sun and the Rainfall ? Whatever - this is a fan's long time dream come true.

It would be interesting to see what it would be like to have all 5 involved in a reunion project.

Maybe Alan can remix In Your Room and make it sound exactly the same as the original album version, which SHOULD'VE BEEN THE SINGLE VERSION! Just kidding, this is great news. I saw Alan with them at the Royal Albert Hall and it was awesome. You only have to listen the the LHN recording to hear that he got the biggest cheer of the evening.

I would love Martin to provide a demo of a new song to both Alan and Vince and have those guys provide individual musical interpretations to back the finished track.

JRW101 - that's a cracking idea. Or - Alan remixing a Vince era tune, and vice versa... Photographic - the Wilder mix, anyone ? (but with all due respect to Vince, not sure about Walking in My Shoes being given the Abba-esque treatment :-). Pat 101 - Alan's remix of Never Let Me Down Again as part of his Recoil live set is OUT of this world. Would love to see him give the full-on steroid treatment to some of the most under-produced songs post his era - I always thought they could have done more with Shine from Exciter for instance.

The last album sucked, now its time to sack some money with a remix album, though great... I don't like the idea that an avantgarde artist such as Aln Wilder has fallen for this, though its early to judge anything... But it would've been much more "a la mode" if they would do a press and say, ok, we will be working with Alan from now on... And Al' producing the new Mode album... Let's see what comes out of this remix album, but if Alan does not remix a song after the Devotion album, then, for me, this whole remix album doesn not make much sense to me...!

Great show here in Chicago opening for Gary Numan on 10/26/2010. Fist I want to say that I've truly enjoyed your solo work as REcoil. Your work with, vocalist Hepzibah Sessa, Douglas McCarthy, Hildia Campbell among others were surprisingly excellent collaborative efforts. Not to mention, your raw talent (of course production skills)...to be lumped with the likes of Chic Corea some years back. Anyway, as far as Depeche Mode is concerned, specifically, the album Songs of Faith and Devotion was and still remains my favorite overall. It was a transitory establishment in the right direction...and then...well, I've always enjoyed DM regardless...but it was never quite the same. Gore and Gahan are both prolific and talented as hell but to cap off the legacy you've all created, I couldn't imagine a more intoxicating, finalization to your careers than to once again collaborate and create something magical. Throw in Vince Clarke...it would be like the Yardbirds reunion...LOL. I first saw DM in 1983(4) at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Some Great Reward tour. Ill' never forget it. I write music as well...I catch myself to this day stumbling on motifs you all have created...it sux really but then again...its good for reflections. Oh yeah, you autographed one of my Emax 3.5 discs about 20 years ago.

I've read that Alan would remix 'In Chains' and bernard summer(former new order of course)'s part of the project too.

If a tour comes out of this project, we don´t need vince, but please please let Alan work on the tour we´re getting bored of the dodgy presets from the old bontempi. Give the songs the atmosphere they deserve, ya know, the one that only Alan seems to create ;-)

@Michel J that Never Let Me Down mix was a slightly changed version of the "back-then" released aggro-mix. perfectly mixed into his Strange-Hour set though. Loved it! I also heard about him doing "in chains" which is a nice choice. But just when I read about Shine in your post - damn that would be nice. Take that song, put some of Wilder's strange, yet dramatic, arrangements on this song and boooom you have something outstanding. I always liked Exciter the most from all the "post-alan-DM-albums". It's different. It's quiet and IMHO just lacks some better production. To give it more depth.
