Martin and Fletch added to Mute festival line-up

We're very excited about the Mute Short Circuit Festival that takes place at the London Roundhouse between May 13th and 15th 2011. Yesterday afternoon Mute announced a series of new acts including: Richie Hawtin, Martin L Gore (DJ set), Moby (DJ set), Andy Fletcher (DJ set) plus Josh T Pearson playing versions of songs by Mute artists. These will join the finest Mute alumni ever gathered under one roof, with The Residents, Laibach, Liars, Carter Tutti collaborating with Nik Void, Erasure, T Raumschmiere, Balanescu Quartet, Komputer, Nitzer Ebb, Recoil, SCUM and more and more. Yann Tiersen has ventured onto new and exciting paths on his latest album; yet any fan will find his "Dust Lane" instantly familiar. Being able to renew one self, while retaining a sense of same is a rare trait in this, the age of rampant artistic schizophrenia (radical make overs and complete changes in direction with every new record). Mute Goes Indie Again, EMI Keeps Depeche Mode

EMI Music and Mute found Daniel Miller have reached an agreement over the future of the label, which will once again be independent - albeit with a label services deal with EMI, who will also take a minority stake. The label specializing in alternative and electronic acts launched in 1978 in London. It signed acts including Depeche Mode, Moby, Goldfrapp, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Erasure and Richard Hawley. Mute News: Irmin Schmidt conducts Irmin Schmidt

The prestigious Schloßfestspiele Ludwigsburg will dedicate it's closing gala performance to the music of Irmin Schmidt, with a focus on his work for film.
