Depeche Mode have been forced to cancel six shows on their Sounds of the Universe tour due to further complications from singer Dave Gahan's severe bout of gastroenteritis. Dave is currently undergoing further tests.
Depeche Mode apologise to all their fans for this inconvenience and wish Dave a speedy recovery. Further information will be released in due course.

After canceling last nights show in Athens at the last minute, Purple Concerts, the band's promoter in Turkey has announced that tomorrow's show in Istanbul will also be canceled. A full Associated Press report, as well as the official statement from DepecheMode.com is posted below.

On Tuesday, May 12th, 2009, at 9pm (local time), the sudden feeling of physical discomfort that hit the singer of Depeche Mode, Dave Gahan, just a few minutes before going on stage for the band's performance, resulted in his immediate transfer to the hospital and the postponement of the band's show.
