Legendary BBC Radiophonic Workshop out on Mute
On Nov. 3rd, everybody’s favourite label, Mute, released the BBC Radiophonic Workshop – A Retrospective. Now, for those unfamiliar with the BBC workshop, this is was arguably the birthplace of electronic music half a century ago. This retrospective album spans the entire lifetime of the workshop, with classic, extremely rare and previously unavailable sounds and music by the legendary BBC organization.
The set features more than 100 pieces of music and sound effects from various BBC TV and Radio shows, including The Goon Show, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Michael Palin’s Full Circle as well as the original full length Dr Who Theme and even the Tardis effects (oooooo-weeeee-oooooo indeed!).
