Dave collaborates with Six Toes

If you’re anything like me and absolutely love the SixToes remixes for Depeche, then you’ll love the new collaboration Dave has done with them. They came together on a track called “Low Guns” and it’s a lush, string filled affair that one moment reminds you of Depeche, then his work with Soulsavers, or any of their remixes for Depeche. Low Guns will see it’s release on 18 November. It really is a gorgeous slice of music with Dave’s vocals gliding right through it. It’s almost like you can crawl right into it and just get lost, but don’t take my word for it. Give it a listen and see what you think.

Six Toes feat. Dave Gahan

Press release info:

“Originally a three-piece, London-based SixToes, who have previously collaborated with Josh T. Pearson and Soulsavers, expanded to a sextet after the release of their 2009 debut album, Trick Of The Night. Ignoring the fact they should really now be called SixtyToes, the new additions to the lineup have given the band an added layer of drama and melancholy, especially on the slowburn intensity of their new single, Low Guns, which is premiered here and is the first track to be taken from the forthcoming The Morning After album. Clearly deciding that six members is still not enough, Low Guns features a temporary additional member in the shape of Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan. “Dave would always be very positive after listening to our remixes for their Sounds Of The Universe album so we invited him to sing on Low Guns and to our delight he immediately said ‘yes’,” explains cellist Anne Carruthers. “In fact he went one step further and also added a harmonica part to the end of the track.” And while it takes a little while to get going – there’s some tuning of violins to get through in the opening thirty seconds or so – the delicate progression from softly plucked guitar, to rolling drums to properly windswept, tears-streaming-down-the-face sadness of the final third is crushingly beautiful.”
