Depeche Mode to be inducted in Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2020

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced their next inductees, and Depeche Mode has been selected. Joining Depeche Mode in the Class of 2020 will be Nine Inch Nails, T. Rex, The Doobie Brothers, Notorious B.I.G., and Whitney Houston. The induction ceremony, which alternates locations annually, will be held on May 2nd in Cleveland, Ohio, the home of the Hall of Fame and Museum.

The recognition of Depeche Mode by the Rock Hall induction committee voters comes on their second time being nominated. A fan vote conducted online saw over a half-million votes for the band. During the live announcement on the “Feedback” morning show Sirius XM satellite radio’s Volume 106 channel, hosts Nik Carter, Lori Majewski, and Alan Light were welcomed by Rock Hall President & CEO Greg Harris. “Last year’s class was really a marker. Things entered into a different generation or era, not just looking back at the classic rock era, but thinking about their place in history. With bands like The Cure and Radiohead going in, it was a massive step that we continue to see progressing.” Majewski remarked that fellow inductees like these were able to vote for the new class for the first time, cementing a path for Depeche Mode.

The Rock Hall Induction Ceremony will for the first time be aired live on HBO.
