'The Poster Came From The Walls' finally online

Much to my surprise, I just stumbled upon an unexpected upload. The gallery ‘The Modern Institute’, which  is about to exhibit Jeremy Deller (one of the directors)’s work soon, has uploaded the full version of ‘Poster On The Walls’. Being originally intended as an extra feature on the ‘The Best Of Vol. 1’ DVD, Mute didn’t approve the result but nevertheless retained its copyrights. This meant that Jeremy Deller and Nick Abrahams could only show the documentary at screenings, and never release it digitally or as a hard copy. I’m not sure, but it seems to me that someone working at ‘The Modern Institute’ didn’t realise this and uploaded it on their Vimeo account as a promo for the exhibition. The few fans who have attended past screenings didn’t exactly praise the doc, but since the majority of us fans could never see it, interest has remained high. But now everyone can judge it for themselves! I wouldn’t be surprised if the upload will disappear soon, though, so be quick…

Update: after less than 24 hours, the Vimeo upload has been taken down again but of course by now reuploads have been taken place on Russian and Hungarian video hosting sites already, and I’m sure more reuploads will follow. Many thanks to ‘The Modern Institute’ for screwing this up!

Wow! It's a bit retro, and perhaps that's why Mode haven't authorised the release but wow! Across the world people love DM- proper devotion. What was interesting (for me) was what people were listening to when the wall came down in the Eastern Block countries- it wasn't Achtung Baby that's for sure! :o) Thanks for the post- brilliant stuff!
