Remixes 2: 81-11 OUT NOW!

The wait is finally over, Depeche Mode’s “Remixes 2: 81-11” is available now! (Tuesday in North America) An inspiring collection of new and classic mixes of material covering their entire career. Depeche Mode have been at the forefront of remix culture for the best part of three decades and this new compilation includes classic mixes from M83, UNKLE, Trentemøller, François Kervorkian and Dan The Automator, alongside all-new mixes from Stargate, Eric Prydz, Karlsson & Winnberg (from Miike Snow) and Röyksopp. In addition to this, the expanded editions include exclusive remixes by former band members Vince Clarke and Alan Wilder – the first time either artist has remixed tracks for their former colleagues.  Look for it at your favorite music retailers!

As expected - the Alan Wilder remix is awesome and outshines ALL of the other remixes on this compilation. Sad really - a sign of what we could have been listening to if things had not gone so pear shaped in the early 90's.....

Some great mixes on here. The Trentemoller mix of Wrong sounds a little like they nicked the drum sequence from Now This Is Fun (See You B Side). Vince Clarke's mix of Behind the Wheel is excellent, Wilder's mix of In Chains isn't too shabby either. Excellent mix of Leave in Silence (probably my favourite). Fly on the Windscreen is a wasted opportunity, as is the Ghost remix. I feel You remix works really well, as does the Dream On mix. What Royksopp have done to Puppets is good- they've made a new sounding song out of the material, however, the original had that air of menace/ cynicism that's been ignored. Whoever made the decision to leave out any Enjoy the Silence remixes- inspired! :o)

Just listened to the whole album. If I have to retain only 2 remixes : 2. Vince Clarke's Behind the Wheel : dancy, vicious, efficient 1. Alan Wilder's In Chains : areal, strong, hypnotic. Tons of emotions, tons of (good) synths sounds. The good big DM sound. It's simply what I have hoped the whole SOTU to be remixed ! If I have to retain just one ? ALAN's OF COURSE !!! Cheers to DM & AW fans Rob

Yes,overall very good mixes but I have to agree with PK here. Why were the Enjoy the Silence mixes left out. The Hands and Feet mix of Enjoy the Silence is classic Mode and should have been included on Remixes 2: 81-11.
