Dave tells SPIN about the upcoming tour
Dave unveiled a few nice details about the upcoming tour to SPIN magazine. Anton’s involved with the stage design again, and there’s already a contender for opening song. Read an excerpt from the interview below.
According to singer Dave Gahan, the tour’s staging is being co-designed by famed photographer and filmmaker Anton Corbijn, and it will be as moody as the band’s music. “Some of the drawings I’ve seen Anton and our stage crew working on, there’s going to be a lot of light and shade and mood,” he tells SPIN.com. Gahan also leaks the fact that the group is considering using Universe track “In Chains” to open every show. “There’s something about that song that’s really about how the album unfolds… it’s very filmic.”

One thing what I can say. No Corbijn - no more DM spirit...

The video is definitely rather disturbing - I wouldn't let my four-year-old watch it! One thing is for sure - it will get them noticed (assuming any networks have the courage to play it ...) DM are back, and they're kicking ass! This feels like a catharsis - finally laying the ghost of Alan to rest, and rewarding us for our loyalty over the past three frankly disappointing albums. Hurrah!

I think this album is bound to be at the least a very good album. After all, some of the reviews that were posted prior to the Wrong release did not note as "Wrong" to be one of their best tracks. Like Dave said in of his interviews, I thinks this album is gonna have "quality", I love "Wrong"!!!

Again, I kind o disagree with Keenman on some points, but the fact that he didn't like Wrong, that doesn't mean that doesn't love DM as much a we all do. Maybe he's going to love some of the other songs on the album, it's just that probably he had some great expectations of Wrong like I had myself. I've heard the song a few more times, and it's definitely getting catchier after every listen. Anyway, we all are entitled to our own opinion, remember? it's a forum people! Long Live Depeche Mode

Well, I have to agree with Keenman. Good song, but definitely not a strong single... However, it does get better with repeat listens. I just saw the video, though, and I have to say that I like the music video a lot more than the song itself. :) Perhaps, the second single will be better, and Wrong is just to remind people that DM are back.

Well going back to Dave interview, I just hope that they make People are People and Strange Love part of the tour track list this time. I know that they haven't play live those two tracks at least on the last four tours. I think that at least one of then don't like those songs a bit. For example believe it or not, Martin who wrote people are people has stated in interviews that he dislike that song so much that it's hard to believe. I personally love those two classic songs

I would like to hear People Are People. I mean, what's more universal than People Are People? Maybe Shame? Hope they'll give us a surprise or two...

bad typos there, I meant gore, gahan, eigner, and the production team do the work in terms of composing the actual music. Fletcher is an old man who only remains a part of the band for financial reasons

People are People live? A good song and heard it live before but they have so many other better songs to pull out of thier arsenal! Hard to chose Im sure. Its kind of like Radiohead playing Creep... not going to happen except on a rare occasion.

As a 40 something who has been into DM since 1981 and 'New Life' I can honestly say that 'Wrong' will stand the test of time. I can remember when 'Stripped' and 'Never Let Me Down Again' were first released people were saying similar things then..."not strong singles"..."not as good as old DM"...and look how loved and "classic" those two are these days. All I can say is the world is still a better place for any DM song, then a world without them.

Wrong is one amazing song, thank God Depeche Mode and Massive Attack exist, God bless. This song blows anything that was made in the past 10 years!! wow, if the rest of the album is anything like this, then this is the masterpiece we've been waiting for. Can't wait for the Phoenix and Seattle shows, I'll be there!!
