DM received IFPI Platinum Europe Award

Depeche Mode have received the IFPI Platinum Europe Award for achieving album sales of more than 1 million copies of for The Best Of Depeche Mode Volume 1.

Artists including Amy Winehouse, Artic Monkeys, Depeche Mode and Take That have received IFPI Platinum Europe Awards for achieving album sales of more than 1m copies.

Ten albums reached sales of more than 1m copies in Europe, while a further six titles were awarded for reaching the 2m mark.

The artists who achieved sales of more than 1m were; Amy Winehouse with album Back to Black, Lily Allen with Alright, Still, French rapper Diam with Dans Ma Bulle, Depeche Mode for The Best Of Depeche Mode Volume 1, German music veteran Herbert Groenemeyer with 12, Paolo Nutini with These Streets, Sean Paul with The Trinity and Arctic Monkeys with debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not.

Electronic pop veterans Depeche Mode saw their album The Best of Depeche Mode Volume 1 surpass one million sales. The album features hits from the group’s three decade-spanning career, plus new track Martyr. The British three-piece last scored a Platinum Europe Award for 2005’s album Playing The Angel.

Double Platinum award winners included; Pink with I’m Not Dead, Snow Patrol with Eyes Open, U2 with U218 Singles and Nirvana’s self titled 2002 release.

Nelly Furtado’s March 2006 release Loose received a double platinum award. The album is currently number one in the European Billboard Album Chart. Take That also received a double platinum award for Beautiful World. The November 2006 release became the UK’s biggest selling album last year.
