Dave Clarke Remixes And Rarities

Dave Clarke’s remix of Depeche Mode’s “Dream On” will be featured on a new compilation that collects thirty of his remixes onto a double CD. ‘Remixes & Rarities’ is out January next year.

Clarke’s DJ schedule may be booked for six months ahead, and he may have remixed many of the bigger electronic acts – Depeche Mode, New Order, Underworld, Chemical Brothers, Gary Numan and Moby – but Clarke still doesn’t see himself as part of the overground. “I may be established,” he says, “But I’ll never be establishment.”

These days Clarke resides in Amsterdam, a suitable home for his electro-infused take on the techno genre. He’s even got his own radio show on Dutch station 3voor12, White Noise, where he spins music for the dancefloor as well as off. Clarke might have released his first track back in 1989, but he remains a techno true believer today: “Techno and electro isn’t just dance music,” he says. “It’s a challenging alternative to all the music that bleeds kids dry and doesn’t progress anything, the music I call opium music. I’ve got absolutely no respect for it whatsoever.
